Toñita: A Legacy Wrapped in Tobacco
Born in Bonao, Dominican Republic, my great-grandmother Toñita lived 104 years with quiet strength, deep tradition, and a cigar rarely far from her hand. She helped raise me in Santo Domingo, and through her calm presence and love for andullo tobacco—a traditional Dominican craft—my passion for cigars was born.
Her daily ritual of lighting a cigar, the rich aroma of aged leaves, and the hibiscus flowers she lovingly tended in our yard all left a mark on me. She once told stories of pretending hibiscus buds were cigars as a child—a playful echo of the legacy I now carry forward.
Toñita isn’t just a premium cigar. It’s a tribute to her resilience, to the soul of Bonao, and to the timeless tradition of Dominican tobacco. With every cigar, her spirit lives on.
